No Compromise Talking Points
- There is no acceptable compromise on the Employee Free Choice Act and it is critically important to express united opposition to EFCA and all compromise versions of the bill that deny workers a secret ballot and forces harmful binding arbitration.
- Every vote in the U.S. Senate is essential to keeping the Employee Free Choice Act from being considered on the floor. It is imperative your Senators vote “No” on both cloture and final passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. It is simply unacceptable to say they are voting for cloture but against final passage.
- The Employee Free Choice Act is bad for workers, bad for job creation and bad for the economy. The bill is an anti-worker, job-killing piece of legislation that will undercut the efforts of President Obama and Congress to stimulate the economy through fiscal policy. The bill will drive up labor costs for employers, especially small businesses, at a time when they can least afford it. A recent study by noted economist Anne Layne-Farrar found that, if passed, the Employee Free Choice Act would result in 600,000 lost jobs in the first year alone. Millions more jobs would be lost in subsequent years.
